Brand Overview: Every Man Jack

Here's the first time I'm focusing a post on a male-targeted (but unisex friendly) brand! Read on for an overview of Every Man Jack.

Every Man Jack is an affordable, cruelty-free, natural brand that can easily be found at stores like Whole Foods and Target. Everything I'm showing is vegan and most of their line is vegan (exceptions are their lip balm, pomade, and fiber cream). I happened to try products with gender-neutral scents, but many of their products are offered in more traditionally masculine scents like sandalwood and cedarwood.

Quick breakdown:

Pros: affordable, accessible, natural, vegan friendly, pretty packaging, has scents "for men"
Cons: some products work better than others, may have ingredients to avoid depending on your preferences

Every Man Jack // Citrus Body Scrub*

Price: $6.00

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Sodium Coco-Sulfate, Glycerin, Jojoba Esters, Acrylates Copolymer, Cocamidopropylamine Oxide, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, Polyquaternium-7, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Phytate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Fragrance/Parfum

My introduction to Every Man Jack started with this body wash. I bought it for my boyfriend at a time when I was interested in shopping greener but didn't know much about how to do it. I found Whole Foods intimidating and this seemed like the best option at Target so I went for this. Even now, being a blogger and knowing about lots of other brands on the market, there aren't really a ton of choices for male-oriented green brands. And if the men in your life are using Gillette and Axe stuff, this is a major upgrade!! Plus it's not super expensive and it performs like a conventional body wash.

This specific body wash is called a scrub because it has little beads in it, but it's definitely more like a body wash than a scrub. The beads provide a bit of exfoliation, but since the product suds up a lot, the foam kinda overpowers the beads. I used this on occasion and I liked it, but I prefer something more moisturizing. My boyfriend uses it daily though, and has no issues with it.

There were two things that made me hesitate on initially recommending this product, which were: I thought it used synthetic fragrance and that it had plastic microbeads. The packaging doesn't make it clear whether the fragrance is natural or synthetic, but I've been informed that it is natural. Also, this scrub has been reformulated to replace the microbeads with biodegradable jojoba beads! The new formula should be making its way into stores now. After trying both, I can say that the new formula works just like the old one, but now I'm happy to recommend it because no plastic microbeads, yay :)

Every Man Jack // Daily Shampoo*

Price: $8.00

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Glycol Stearate, Octinoxate, Glycerin, Panthenol, Polyquaternium-44, Allantoin, Amodimethicone, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance/Parfum. *Certified Organic

This has not touched my hair because it has sillicone, which I avoid, but my boyfriend has been using it. Not much to say since he has short, low maintenance hair, but it gets the necessary cleansing done and he has no complaints. This shampoo has a cedarwood scent, which he likes.

Every Man Jack // Deodorant in Signature Mint & Citrus*

Price: $6.00

Ingredients (for Signature Mint): Aqua/Water/Eau, Propanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Sodium Stearate, Witch Hazel Distillate, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Extract, Calendula Extract*, Myrrh Gum Extract, Alpine Lichen Extract, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Chamomile Extract*, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Crithmum Maritimum Extract, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Fragrance/Parfum. *Certified Organic

Unfortunately, this product was a failure. To be fair, natural deodorant is a terribly difficult product to master, especially in stick form. These deodorants smell great, glide on super smoothly, and are affordable. But the wear-time is terrible - around 3-4 hours on me. It has decent reviews online so it might work for you, but both me and my boyfriend didn't have much luck with these. I'm hoping to get some use out of these in the upcoming winter months, but I definitely would not rely on it for summer heat.

FYI: I reviewed a bunch of natural deodorants here, and my two favorites are still Schmidt's and Blissoma, although I'm a little less enthusiastic about the Blissoma one now because it's hardening up with the colder temperatures. The quest for natural deodorant continues!

Overall: Every Man Jack is worth checking out if you want cheap, natural goods or if you know a "man" looking for "manly" things.
