1. Duet Perfecting Concealer

This is without a doubt, Hynt Beauty's most well known product. It's known for being full coverage and I've heard multiple bloggers say it restored their faith in natural concealers.

I actually haven't tried any natural concealers because I'm relatively new to wearing foundation and concealer. The main purpose I would have for concealer would be to cover up zits but whenever I looked up reviews for other natural concealers, someone would always say that it was light-medium coverage or better for under-eyes, which turned me off from buying concealers.

Ok, so this is supposed to be full coverage and yes, it covers very well! The squeeze tube is kinda hard to squeeze, but that's a good thing, because a little goes a long way. It comes out as a cream, which I warm with my fingers and then apply.

This particular shade was too light for my skin, which was a big disappointment! I was able to work with it by using the darker foundation from the kit over it, but I'm unable to use it without foundation. Hynt doesn't have any sampling options for it, which is too bad because if I were purchasing this on its own, I would like the option to test it and color match myself before buying the full size.

I've heard mixed things about whether people think it's hydrating or drying and I can see both sides. I didn't have an issue with using it to cover scars and discoloration, but when using it on blemishes, I thought it was a little on the drying side. Fortunately, this concealer is easy to mix with moisturizers or other products, which is what I plan on experimenting more with.

A photo of this in action is at the end of the post.

The concealer retails for $24.00 by itself.

2. Velluto Pure Powder Foundation

I have never used powder foundation (only liquid and cream), but I found this easy to use.

All the jars in this kit come with rotating sifters, which is handy because it helps control how much product comes out. The kit's mini brush fits perfectly into the jar lid so you can easily pick up the product. I also tried using the e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush with good results.

Light Beige: for fair-light skin with neutral beige or yellow undertones.
Medium Beige: for medium skin with neutral beige or medium olive undertones.

Light Beige was the better match for me. I used Medium Beige over the concealer since the concealer was too light and I also used it as a contour color.

The foundation claims to be ultra-finely milled. I can't attest to that because I don't have a point of comparison, but I will say that it applies smoothly and feels light. It conquers redness like a champion and leaves a nice natural finish. It's slightly matte, but not super matte and since it provides light-medium coverage, it doesn't give that obvious foundation look. It's a good match for the concealer because you can use the full coverage concealer to spot conceal and then use this foundation for a bit of coverage all over.

Individual samples of this foundation are available for $5.00
The size in the kit is actually "Velluto to go." The full size is $69.00, which sounds scary, but it includes a larger Velluto, a Velluto to go, and a brush. I find it a little strange that they sell them this way but you do you, Hynt.

3. Finale Finishing Powder

This is a translucent finishing powder. I don't have much to say about it because I don't get very oily so this wasn't necessary for me. When I wore this with the foundation, it felt too drying, so I figure that I don't need to be putting any more powder on my face. It seems to blend into the skin nicely, though.

4. Lumiere Radiance Boosting Powder

This is a powder that you can lightly dust all over for a glow. It gives a golden sheen and I tried using it as a highlight, but didn't find it very flattering. I thought it emphasized my pores, which might be because I was using too much product. The kit's brush is dense and I don't have any looser fluffy brushes, but I think one of those would probably work better with this product.

Alto Radiant Powder Blush (Passion Pink)*

Price: $28.00

Passion pink is a soft mauvey pink that has more of a sheen than shimmer.

This blush is super pigmented! Only a tiny bit of powder is needed to create a soft flush. It's also long wearing and this ended up being one of my favorite products. I love the pink box too ;P

Hynt Beauty Swatches (L to R): Alto blush - passion pink / Duet concealer - light / Lumiere powder / Finale powder - translucent pearl / Velluto foundation - light beige / Velluto foundation - medium beige

The concealer looks a little pink in the swatch but it's more neutral in person.
For the Lumiere and Finale powder swatches, they are blended out towards the bottom.

I used the Duet concealer on my chin, Velluto foundation in Light Beige all over, Velluto foundation in Medium Beige on top of the concealer and as contour, and Alto blush in Passion Pink on my cheeks.

Overall:
If you're in the market for new foundation, I think the Discovery Kit is worth trying out.
If not, then you definitely need to try out the concealer and see what the hype is about!
The blush is lovely as well and I look forward to seeing what else Hynt releases in terms of color cosmetics (they've mentioned on their IG that they have lipsticks coming up!).

  1. I orderded the concealer and agree-its hard to squeeze- but makes sense since a little goes a long way! Mine was also too light (the recommended one after seeing my pic), but they sent a sample of the next color and it's perfect. The lighter works to brighten up the area. Great review:)

  2. Had the same problem with the concealer. Contacted the company. I guess they had some issues with some of their tubes. They advised me to cut off the tip until product squeezed out easier. It did help.

  3. Hi, loved your review, the products seems to be one of the greatest. I am wondering what is your skin tone colour is (Mac skin swatch number)? I think my skin looks similiar to your skin colour. I am scared of ordering wrong colour shade (light beige or medium beige, or bronzed beige), so want to check against your skin colour. Many thanks in advance.

I tried the discovery kit and totally agree with your review. For medium toned individuals, bronzed beige is much to dark
