Natural Liquid Eyeliner Review: Zuzu Luxe vs. The All Natural Face

Photo of Zuzu Luxe Liquid Eyeliner and The All Natural Face Vegan Gel Eyeliner
Winged eyeliner is a must for me, so thankfully there are natural options available! Here's a comparison of the two I have tried so far, from Zuzu Luxe and TANF.

Zuzu Luxe Liquid Eyeliner (Raven)

Price: $15.99

Cruelty-free and vegan.

Ingredients: Aqua (Infusion of Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice), Sorbitol, Cetyl Alcohol, Iron Oxides, Mica, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Bentonite, Bisabolol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright) Extract, Titanium Dioxide, Cellulose Gum, Hectorite, Potassium Sorbate

The All Natural Face Vegan Gel Eyeliner (That Black)

Price: $5.75

Cruelty-free and vegan.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Vegetable Gylcerin, Mica, Oxides, Magnesium Myristate, Sclerotium Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Cosomcil Cq

1. Accessibility: Zuzu Luxe is available at Whole Foods, Zuzu Luxe's site, and stores like Pharmaca. TANF is only available online through their site - well they have one store, but it's nowhere near me.

2. Price: TANF is $10 cheaper and the tube is bigger. It seems like a big difference but what annoys me about TANF is having to pay for shipping. Also, you can get Zuzu Luxe for around $10 if Pharmaca is having a sale, in which case the price difference isn't that big. Sometimes they are out of stock though!

Zuzu Luxe vs. TANF Liquid Eyeliner Comparison

3. Pigmentation: Both are opaque black, but Zuzu Luxe has a matte finish, while TANF has a glossy finish. I had issues with TANF applying a bit streaky and it was harder to fill in my cat eye.

4. Application: Zuzu Luxe - tapered felt tip, very stiff and a bit rough on the eyelid, brush handle is easier to hold, better for thick winged eyeliner. Drys almost instantly.
TANF - brush tip, gentle on eyelid, harder to hold because handle is awkwardly long and round, better for thin eyeliner. I have to be more careful with this because it stays wet longer.

5. Wear-time: This is the major one!! TANF is more prone to smudging and fading. Zuzu Luxe fades a little but it doesn't really smudge and generally holds up much better. I tried to take before/after pics above, but they're not the best since I did them when I had a chill day at home, so there would be a bigger difference on a normal day.

Overall: I prefer Zuzu Luxe. It's easier for me to use and performs better.

  1. Jealous that Zuzu Luxe doesn't smudge on you! My sister and I love the brush and pigmentation of Zuzu Luxe, but it smudges into panda eyes on both of us if we aren't constantly wiping away under our eyes. - Jade (nephritic.us)
