Natural Beauty Empties #1

Spoiler: I'm probably not re-purchasing any of these. Since going natural in January, I've come to learn that I can't simply trust whatever's highly rated on Vitacost. I'll share my thoughts on my empties as well as give suggestions which have been working better for me.
Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner | Desert Essence Fragrance Free Lotion | Alba Botanica Even Advanced Moisturizer w/ SPF 15 | Alba Botanica Hawaiian 3-in-1 Clean Towelettes

Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner [review here]
I originally raved about these because they are cheap and work pretty well, but I have since tried out Acure, which works better for me. Aside from that, I have some other issues with DE. I use up some products slowly, especially shampoo, so it presents a problem if they start changing consistency after a few months. It's labeled that these have a 6 month shelf life, but in my experience it was actually a little shorter. Also, as you can see by the photo, the ink on the packaging started to rub off and would get on my hands. I still think DE is a good affordable natural brand, I just think Acure is better!
Re-purchase? No.

Desert Essence Fragrance Free Lotion
You might think a fragrance free lotion would be boring, but I enjoyed using this. It has a subtle citrusy scent so it doesn't smell completely flat and left my skin lightly moisturized. I also used it as a hand cream. Won't be re-purchasing any time soon because there's tons of other lotions I want to try out.
Re-purchase? Maybe.

Alba Botanica Even Advanced Moisturizer w/ SPF 15 [review here]
Sooo glad to be done with this one. I have mostly "normal skin" and this took awhile to absorb and would make parts of my face oily. Skip this and go for Andalou Naturals!
Re-purchase? No.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian 3-in-1 Clean Towelettes [review here]
Hated these as well. I've got Acure and Pacifica's wipes to try out next and I'm hoping those are better!
Re-purchase? No.

Nature's Gate Natural Toothpaste | Balanced Guru Body Scrub | Ellovi Butter | Mun Toner | Box Naturals Wipe

Nature's Gate Natural Toothpaste - Mint
This worked fine, but I wish it was a little more minty. I'm using Now Foods Xyli White currently and I'm not sure what it is about natural toothpastes (maybe the baking soda?) but they make me want to gag. I'd recommend the Now Foods one over Nature's Gate, but I've heard that glycerin is bad for teeth, so I'm definitely trying out Earthpaste next.
Re-purchase? No.

Balanced Guru Scrub Me Body Scrub [review here]
If you like drier scrubs (I don't), you might like this.
Re-purchase? No.

Ellovi Butter - Mint Chocolate [review here]
I feel like my skin isn't dry enough to use this (yay?) because a lot of people recommend it and I just didn't think it did much for me.
Re-purchase? No.

Mun Toner [review here]
Liked this, but can't afford a full size haha.
Re-purchase? No.

Box Naturals Wipes [review here]
Overpriced. These smell good, but don't work notably well at removing makeup. Also, they have phenoxyethanol, which for being a luxe natural product is disappointing.
Re-purchase? No.

Lots of products I won't re-purchase, but it's all part of learning!

    1. I just started using Earthpaste and I actually like it. It's definitely a little hard to use, but I like knowing how natural it is :)

  2. Nice post! Recently I purchased Desert Essence Coconut Lime Lotion and I haven't tried it yet but I am quite curious about its fragrance...I hope it is nice! :D I would not use Alba Botanica spf cream because, if I remember well, it also has chemical sun screens inside (which I don't use) and I agree with you that Andalou Naturals offers a very nice alternative. I have their tinted moisturizer spf 30 and it is perfect! It smells nice, covers flaws without being heavy!

    1. The Andalou Naturals product I'm using right now actually has chemical sunscreens but I've been wanting to try their other ones next which don't have them. I'll have to look into that tinted moisturizer. Thanks!
