Maracuja Oil? Air Cushion?

I had to do some research. Maracuja is another word for passion fruit, so this foundation is infused with passion fruit oil, which gives it a hydrating quality. Air cushion foundations are an emerging trend which began in Asia. Much like BB Creams, they provide multiple functions, light coverage, and a natural look.

Along with maracuja oil, the ingredients list has tons of other fruits and foods, as usual (100% Pure makes fruit pigmented makeup). Titanium and Zinc are active ingredients which provide SPF 20, according to the website.

The foundation comes in a sleek metal compact. There are two tiers to it - the sponge puff and the cushion where the liquid comes out. You press the puff onto the cushion to saturate it and then dab it on your face. It's probably not a good idea to use this with a normal brush because I think that would damage the cushion.

If you like tinted moisturizers and other sheer coverage type products, I think you'll love this foundation! You can kinda think of it as a tinted moisturizer in a compact. The Maracuja Foundation feels very lightweight and has the texture of a moisturizer. When I first put it on, it felt like a lotion waiting to be absorbed and then that feeling dissipated and I was left with smooth, comfortable skin. I don't bother with foundation most of the time because I hate the feeling of it so this makes me happy!

Coverage-wise, it's enough to even out redness and smooth out pores, but not much else. It also gives a fresh, dewy finish that's not cakey. There's no discernible scent to the product. As for lasting power, it seems to hold up pretty well, but I'll report more on this later when I've had a chance to test it out more rigorously.

Final Thoughts

on Maracuja Oil - This foundation is certainly moisturizing. I'm not sure if it's the maracuja oil exactly, but there's something good going on. This isn't enough to make me want to buy a product for the fact of having maracuja oil in it, but it'll be on my radar now!

on Air Cushion Foundations - I haven't tested out enough foundations to know whether this application method is a gimmick or whether the same results can be had in a simpler way, but I don't really care. Pressing liquid in a compact is fun, especially when it's a pink metallic compact.

on 100% Pure's combo of the two - Although I'll need to find a good concealer to pair with this for my desired coverage, I'm very pleased with how this foundation looks and feels. It's expensive, but it's a high quality product.

Great first impression doll, I love light to med coverage foundations and always reach for bbs or ccs because I dont like high coverage. Ive tried other cushioned foundation before and it was cool although the one I tried wasn't natural or cruelty-free it was nice. Now that one of my favorite cf brands came out with one Im dying to try it out and I agree its pretty pricey! Thanks for the review.

    1. I never heard of cushion foundations until now, so it's cool that 100% Pure came out with a natural & cf one. It sounds like a perfect fit for you! It is pricy but you can always wait until they have a sale or a good gift with purchase offer to get the most bang for your buck!
